I loved the light here - diffused light on the wall through the trees camera right. Used a reflector under subject to light the face and the wall in front. Made a HUGE difference!

Returned from Greece late last week - still processing photos from my trip. Didn't have much time to travel, so it was mostly portraits...

The couple in the photo above live right next door to my husband's family - they have a large property and a beautiful neo-classic house but it has been deemed 'historical' and hence by Greek laws they are not allowed to develop or rebuild it.

They have been married for over 55 years and still seem very much in love :-)

I found this a difficult photoshoot - I have never worked with animals before and also the ambient light faded really quickly - and I could not bring out the beauty of the horse :( Need to try and reshoot.

Strobist info: SB800 through white umbrella top camera right. Dakota (the horse) was so patient - at some point he fell asleep :-)

1: What is your biggest fear and why?
Running out of chocolate, for obvious reasons.

2: What do you think is the biggest problem facing the world and why?
The world? I work on global health and disease, so I would probably go with childhood diarrhea? Maybe I don't want to elaborate on that one though :) Lets say lack of education, because so many smart talented people are held back because they can't afford the education they deserve.

3: Who do you think will be the republican presidential candidate in 2012 and why?
I think you can tell from my last answer I am a democrat, so ideally someone who has no chance of winning, like Larry Craig or Mark Sanford? :)

4: Have you read a book that is considered a classic that you just can't stand? What is it and why?
Confederacy of Dunces- as much as I wanted to like it I just couldn't finish it.

5: What do you think is humanity's greatest accomplishment, and why?
The internet, god bless Al Gore and RAND for that invention :) Now I can spend my evenings trolling the web instead of reading a book or enjoying fresh air.

Learned from my mistakes from the previous multiple exposure :-)

1. If you could live some where else, where would it be and why?
Christchurch, NZ. It is surrounded by spectacular scenery, it is quaint, has good sea food and excellent ginger beer!

2. Is your glass half full or half empty?
Right now it is half full. Tomorrow it may be half empty. What can I say? I'm moody.

3. What is your all time favorite movie? What did you like about it?
The Court Jester. I used to watch it all the time with my best friend, my mom, my dad, and my sister. And Danny Kaye is HILARIOUS! "The pellet with the poison is in the vessel with the pestle...."

4. Do you have any special talents?
My sense of smell is my superpower. That is, when my nose isn't stuffed up.

5. If you cook, what is your signature dish?
Mulligatawny soup (pssst...this is delicious with butternut squash)
