Sisters

Crazy, hectic week. Still adjusting to being a full-time parent. Sometimes I wonder how people have several kids (my paternal grandparents had at least 9!). They must either really love kids to have the patience of a saint.

Self-portrait

My first (and probably only!) photo of my pregnancy and 8 more weeks to go! Didn't even want to take this photo, but between demands, threats and pleas from my family, I finally decided to give in.

He's here!

Our little baby boy Aarav (means peaceful or serene) arrived 3 weeks early on Feb. 27 weighing in at 4 pounds 13 oz. A little jaundiced at birth, but doing better now. More photos can be found at: http://sunita.smugmug.com/gallery/4467867_Fw4dw.

All I can say about being a parent is 'wow'. Our lives have changed and everything everyone has told me about being a mom seems true. Anyway, here's to a lifetime of learning!

Sorry I haven't been able to keep up with the dailies for a while now, but should hopefully be able to return soon. You'll probably see a lot of my littlest subject ;-)

Aarav and his buggy friends

Just found out today that Aarav is allergic to dairy products and soy :( We have changed his formula and I am on a no soy/dairy/casein diet. It's good we detected this early - despite his inflamed gut, he's been a pretty happy baby.

Sahana saw Avantika talking to me through these beams and I guess she thought she could actually get through them. She kept trying to push her way through and got frustrated very quickly when she realized she couldn't.

Happy Father's day!

Never really celebrated such occassions growing up, but now that I am a parent, and having recently lost my father, they suddenly seem to have acquired some meaning. For instance, I wish I had listened more to my father and showed my appreciation better. I realize now that even though he was not around a whole lot or was the father I wanted him to be, a lot of what and who I am is because of him. I see a lot of my father in my brother and that is comforting, I guess. Anyway, enough of sentimentality. Here's to wonderful memories that remain and those that remain to be created.

Picture -perfect Switzerland

Taken in the Bernese-Oberland region - on the way to the 'Top of Europe' (Jungfraujoch) The mountains in the background include three of the highest peaks in the region of Central Switzerland. This was taken from the train on the way to the top.

Cousins (who share the same birthday)

Avantika is so gentle with Aarav - it's really cute to watch them together. Can't believe he's nearly 4 months old. Hates tummy time and is ready to crawl on his back.

Father and son

Didn't have time to shoot anything today, so something from the archives. My littlet and his daddy. He's started recognizing people - has a special smile for me ;) and gurgles a lot in his sleep.
In retrospect, I wish I hadn't sliced off T's ear but hopefully it doesn't look too bad.

Fixing the sailboat - tried my hand at portraiture - more converting to b/w actually. Need to improve on my level adjustments etc. This just doesn't seem to 'pop' for me :(

Found this stack of pieces of wood outside a home in our neighbourhood - looks like it was for sale. Thought it made for an interesting b/w shot what with all the shapes, textures etc.
